Cornell Project

Before

We purchased this old home that was built in 1924. It hadn't been updated in nearly 50 years, and needed some major renovation work in addition to new plumbing, wiring, heating, cooling and energy modernization.

After

After gutting the inside, we discovered that the roof had to be replaced and the main floor had to be releveled. At that point we decided to make some major structural changes by replacing the partial attic with a new second story. We shored up the foundation and footings to handle the added weight, and added new interior shear walls to handle wind and seismic loads.

The result is an energy efficient, modern home with a vintage look in keeping with the surrounding neighborhood.
